Baking can be an intimidating task, and especially for beginners. But it’s important to remember that it’s really a science, and so by following tips and basic instructions, you, too, can make wonderful creations you’ll be proud to display!

Cake frosting tips:

  • Always cut the rounded top off your cake.
  • Don’t forget to dirty ice! (This is just a thin layer of icing to collect the crumbs). Refrigerate the cake for at least 30 minutes before adding another layer of icing.
  • Get your tools warm before you work with them. Cold tools will lead to messy icing and the cake tearing. Putting words on your cake?
  • Trace your design out first with a toothpick, and then go over the lines with colored frosting or gel.
