A creamy bowl of mashed potatoes is, for some, the highlight of a holiday meal. And really, who can resist their buttery deliciousness? But if you’re looking to cut back on some of the heavier sides, try swapping it out for cauliflower mash. It’s just as satisfying as potatoes, but it will help you save plenty of room for dessert.



  1. Place the cauliflower florets in a steamer basket over boiling water. Cover, and steam until very tender, about 12–15 minutes.
  2. Place the cooked cauliflower in a large bowl. Add in the milk, sour cream, dill, butter, and salt. Use an immersion blender to mix until smooth.
