The first thing that comes to mind when picturing a summer music festival is probably not family-friendly fun. But, keep in mind these festivals that make sure anyone of any age has a good time.
Taste of Country – Hunter Mountain, NY
Within the scenic Catskill Mountains is where one of the country’s biggest country festivals can be found. Taste of Country takes place the weekend of June 8, and the headliners for this year’s festival are sure to make it a weekend worth documenting. Head to the mountains to soak up the clean air and the good music, thanks to the like of Eric Church and Sam Hunt.
Musikfest – Bethlehem, PA
This year’s headliners include Jason Mraz, Styx, and Joan Jett, to name a few. The festival also has plenty of free activities for any age group, and festival traditions that ensure every concert goer has a good time. There’s interactive displays, comedy shows, and of course, plenty of food options to choose from. Head to the Lehigh Valley in early August for one memorable festival experience.
Telluride Bluegrass Festival – Telluride, CO
Head to Colorado the weekend of June 21 for Telluride’s 45th Bluegrass Festival. This mountain town has plenty to offer for any generation, with special kid events like a talent show, as well as countless educational activities for them to enjoy while adults bop to some bluegrass tunes.
Lollapalooza – Chicago, IL
While not the most obviously family-friendly, Lollapalooza has a separate event within the festival grounds for those in the younger generation. Named Kidzapalooza, this family-fun fest is designed to satisfy those who may find the main grounds of Lolla a bit too much. Head to Chicago the weekend of August 2 to find out what all the hype is about.
Summerfest – Milwaukee, WI
Known as “The World’s Largest Music Festival”, downtown Milwaukee turns into a music lover’s dream during Summerfest: a 11-day festival with over 800 bands, and many of music’s biggest names. This year’s lineup includes James Taylor, The Weeknd, and Journey, among others. There’s also fireworks, and an abundance of interactive kid activities to keep the family occupied.
