Never underestimate the value of seeing life in a new way. Gutzon Borglum saw the Black Hills of South Dakota as an artist’s medium, and created a national landmark that reflects the importance of the subjects it commemorates. Cheri Melillo teamed up with the American Institute of Architects to transform a basic food drive into a design competition named “Canstruction.” A slice of history was reopened when the Heritage Foundation of Franklin and Williamson County purchased and restored a run-down theater in Franklin, Tennessee.
