Hawaiian Hibiscus Flowers

The Hawaiian Islands are populated with gorgeous hibiscus flowers. Though they don’t grow naturally outside of tropical climates, that doesn’t mean your Hawaiian-inspired party should go without!

These paper hibiscus flowers look just like the real thing and will transport your guests straight to the beaches of Hawaii!

Materials

Directions:

  1. Use the scissors to cut the green crepe paper into rigged leaf shapes. (You’ll need one leaf per flower.) Cut the fuchsia crepe paper into teardrop shapes for the petals, and cut the yellow crepe paper into thin rectangles, about 4 inches in length. (You’ll need three per flower.)crepe-paper-flowers-step1
  2. Lightly paint the edges of the fuchsia petals gold. Once dry, glue the petals together in an overlapping formation, with about half of each petal covering the last. Glue one of the green leafs behind the last petal.crepe-paper-flowers-step2
  3. While the petals are drying, place three of the yellow rectangles on top of one another, and cut slits along one of the long edges (about halfway in and a centimeter apart).crepe-paper-flowers-step3
  4. Cut the floral wire to your desired length, and place a thin strip of glue along the length of the wire until the halfway point. Wrap the frayed yellow rectangles along the wire until it reaches the center, to form the central stem.crepe-paper-flowers-step4
  5. Wrap the petals around the top of the floral wire so that the frayed yellow stem comes through the center, and secure the petals to the wire with glue. Once the glue is dry, wrap the exposed part of the wire with floral tape.crepe-paper-flowers-step5
