How to Incorporate Art Into Your Home
Interior decorating isn’t everybody’s forte, especially where art is concerned.
You don’t want your home to look like you tried too hard to make it something it’s not, but you also want to add a sense of style and personality to your space. If you want to start incorporating more art into your home, but don’t know where to start, let this be your guiding light.
Add pieces by the same artist
If you want to create a uniform look, consider adding a few pieces by the same artist throughout various rooms. This can elevate your space without making it look too eclectic and over the top, especially if you live in a smaller space. Use these pieces to tell a story!
Don’t forget about overlooked places
Hallways, bathrooms, and the guest room are all fair game. Just because they’re not your most lived-in places, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t place art in these spaces as well. While you may not want to put your most expensive, sought-after art here, a print or two will go a long way in adding cohesiveness to the home.
Go bold
This may not be a suggestion everyone will hop on board with, but if you really want to incorporate art into your home, you might as well go all in. To create the art gallery feel, bigger and more abstract pieces can do wonders for large rooms. However, if the room calls for more traditional art, go that route instead! Either way, have the design of the room complement the artwork you choose, and vice versa, to create a bold, well-rounded aesthetic.
The more, the merrier
If you hang one print and call it a day, you may not be setting your home up for interior design success. Even with smaller homes, there are ways (a cluster of prints, larger frames, neutral colors) to incorporate art into the space. But generally speaking, adding more art will improve the interior of your home, and help add flow throughout.
Go with your personality
Maybe you feel pressured by certain trends, or maybe a friend gave you a piece of art that you feel compelled to hang, but no matter the circumstance, try to stay true to you throughout the decorating process. It’s your home after all, and you’re the one who has to see these pieces every day. Add art that breathes your personality into the home. You want people to walk in and feel like this is your space, through and through.
