America’s Sweetheart Capital: Loveland, Colorado
This February, one cozy Colorado town is capturing the essence of Valentine’s Day all month long. Loveland, Colorado, is chalk-full of events that leave no doubt of the authenticity of its name.
Valentine Remailing Program
Every winter, the town of Loveland becomes Valentine’s Day central, and even collects people’s love letters from around the world. A group of volunteers works to stamp each valentine sent with a special “sweetheart city” seal, which is then shipped out to its recipient. Loveland has previously received valentines from all 50 states and more than 120 countries!

Mountainfilm on Tour
This film festival, once exclusive to Telluride, CO, is making its first ever appearance in Loveland this February. Enjoy a variety of documentary films on display detailing the inspiring adventures and ideas captured by area filmmakers. Coming to the Rialto Theater on February 2, Mountainfilm on Tour aims to use the power of film, art, and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world.
Love + Light
As locals know, each second Friday in Loveland is a great night out on the town, with art galleries, shops, and restaurants keeping their doors open late for the occasion. February, of course, is no exception. On February 8-9 from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., the Loveland Love + Light event will feature more than 12 different contemporary art installations at Loveland Aleworks. With beer on tap and a different food truck each night, this is a great way to get in the spirit of Valentine’s Day. For more info, see their website, http://www.lovelandaleworks.com/home
Loveland Sweetheart Festival
From February 8-9, nights full of love, locks, and lights will be in store for Loveland residents and tourists alike. Throughout downtown Loveland, guests can visit the largest love lock sculpture in the country, a beer and wine garden, and a palace of sweets. Attendees can also check out a collection of art installations and interactive art displays, a “snowzilla” slide, and face painting, for the kids. Excitement and love will certainly be in the air during this joyous 2-day event.
Chocolate and Wine Tasting Movie Night
On Valentine’s Day, Loveland is celebrating in style with a chocolate and wine tasting in the Deveraux Room at 8 p.m. Afterwards, enjoy a screening of Harold & Maude, a romantic comedy perfect for your Valentine’s Day viewing.
Even if you won’t be making it to Loveland this Valentine’s Day, you can still get involved in the fun. By mailing a Valentine’s Day card to Loveland by February 7, you can have Loveland’s official 2019 Valentine’s Day verse and design stamped on your card to be shared with loved ones.
