Charlotte’s Web Lunch Tutorial

Quick & Easy | 2 Likes

E.B. White’s Charlotte’s Web is a beloved classic that adults and children alike can enjoy. Now, Wilbur, Charlotte, and her “terrific” web can come to life at lunchtime. This healthy lunch tutorial centers around the famous spider and her web, but we couldn’t forget about including a watermelon-based Wilbur, too!

Instructions

  1. Charlotte's Web Instructions
To create this Charlotte’s Web inspired lunch, you will need the following ingredients: one red grape, raisins, 1 teaspoon cream cheese, 1 slice of wheat bread, 1 string cheese, a watermelon slice, a strawberry, three blueberries, a carrot, two chocolate sprinkles, cookie cutters, and six toothpicks.

  2. Charlotte's Web Instructions
First, cut a slice of watermelon that is about ½ inch thick. Use your cookie cutters to cut 1 small and 1 large circle for Wilbur’s body.
Charlotte's Web InstructionsAssemble the body by placing the smaller circle on top of the larger circle, and positioning it so that the bottom edges of each circle are aligned.
Charlotte's Web InstructionsSlice your strawberry. Use the smallest slice for the nose. Then, cut a larger slice in half, and position below the larger circle for the legs. Cut another slice in quarters, using 2 of them for Wilbur’s pointy ears. Position them behind the smaller circle, pointing up. Put a dab of the cream cheese on each blueberry to keep them from rolling away.
Charlotte's Web InstructionsPress the blueberries on for eyes. Place the sprinkles on the sliced strawberry for nostrils. Cut a very small sliver of a carrot. Give it a little twist, and carefully place it on the left side of the larger watermelon circle. This will give Wilbur his curly tail.

  3. Charlotte's Web Instructions
Use the large cookie cutter to cut a large circle of bread that will become the base for Charlotte’s Web. Position your bread so that it is to the top left of Wilbur, as if it were in the top corner of the scene—much like in the book. Peel the string cheese into thin pieces, and make into web shape on the bread. Begin by making an T shape with two pieces of cheese. Continue this process to add an X shape on top of the T. Cut 3 strings of the cheese into thirds, and fill in the spaces between each piece of cheese to complete your web.

  4. Charlotte's Web Instructions
Press 3 raisins onto each of the 6 toothpicks. Press each one into the grape to assemble Charlotte’s legs. Add cream cheese to the last blueberry, and press it onto the grape to resemble Charlotte’s head. Place Charlotte onto her web to complete the story-inspired Charlotte’s Web lunch tutorial.

With your story scene complete, print out our napkin ring label and use to wrap up the silverware!
