4 Fun Ideas for Your Housewarming Party

You’re all moved in to your new home, and even though the hard part may be over, you still want to share this special moment with your family and friends.

A housewarming party is customary to commemorate the purchase and show of your new space, but if you really want your guests to be impressed, try one of these exciting ideas.

family painting walls

A Paint Party

This might sound like you’re just recruiting your loved ones to help you finish the decorating process, but if there is a particular room (or multiple rooms) you were planning on sprucing up with some paint, why not turn this into an opportunity for fun? Make sure you tape off any areas you don’t want painted, give everyone some supplies and ask them to get painting. Just be sure to provide them lots of snacks and refreshments.

string art craft

Crafter’s Delight

Have a group of DIY-crazy friends and relatives? Encourage them to create a fun, decorative piece for your new home. You can start by drawing up a wish list, gathering supplies for your most-wanted items, and encouraging guests to choose a project. Make sure you keep the ideas relatively straight-forward, though, like this simple string art project or this wooden flip calendar.

potluck food on table

Traditional Potluck

You can’t go wrong with a potluck! You know they’ll be plenty of food, and you won’t have to spend all day in the kitchen to make the party a success. But what can make your potluck even better? Encourage guests to bring a traditional family dish, and include the recipe on a card you can place into a scrapbook and keep in your kitchen for years to come.

family game night

Game Night

What could be more fun than playing a bunch of games with your friends and family? A little competition never hurt nobody, and sets the stage for your new home being the go-to party house. You can even have guests bring a particular game to give as the housewarming present, which will help fill your supply of games for your home.

Any of these housewarming party ideas are sure to be a hit! And you can put your own unique spin on any of them to show off your new home in the way that’s right for you!
