Declutter in Time For Summer’s Arrival
Many people consider Memorial Day weekend the unofficial start of summer, but we still have a bit of time before June 20, which means more time to get your home spick-and-span before the official start of the season.
Go through kitchen cabinets
When was the last time you cleaned out your cabinets and threw away any expired or rarely-used items? Make the time to really go through your kitchen cabinets, and if you need more storage space, consider adding organizers, wire racks, or dividers.
Organize the spices
If you don’t already have a spice organization system, such as a lazy Susan or a designated spice rack, now is as good a time as any to get your spices in order. That way you don’t have to dig around every time you need something. Consider categorizing them alphabetically for an even easier method.
Organize the under-the-sink spaces
Whether it’s the guest bathroom you haven’t used in a while, your own bathroom, or the space under your kitchen sink, you should be utilizing these areas efficiently. Throw away any expired items, wipe down the surfaces, and organize anything that’s not in its rightful place.
Check under the beds
Maybe you toss extra hangers under there or have a full organizational system, but either way, make sure to dust under your bed or toss items that no longer serve a purpose. If your underbed area is large enough, consider getting storage bins, caddies, or boxes to house items that would otherwise be disorganized.
Check all the cords and cables
We’re more connected than ever, which means things like chargers, computer wires, and other technological accessories are always laying around. Take the time to go around the house and tie up any wires and cords that aren’t in use and label any you’re unsure of.
