There are thousands of museums and aquariums all over the world, and unfortunately you can’t visit them all. Luckily, you can still tour many of these places virtually. It’s a great family activity for rainy days to keep kids from going stir-crazy—and they might learn something new along the way. Here are some tours available to you at the click of a button.

MUSEUMS:

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Explore the many online exhibits offered to you, including a behind-the-scenes look at museum’s unique The Costume Institute Conservation Lab.

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)

After perusing the art and exhibits at The Met, get your modern art fix by virtually touring the MoMA. Learn more about artists like Sophie Taeuber-Arp, who was an impactful painter, sculptor, and designer in the early twentieth-century .

Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

Explore works from artists like Van Gogh and Gauguin as well as artifacts that date back to the Roman Empire. The MFA’s collection is extensive and will keep everyone occupied for hours.

British Museum, London

The fun, interactive map takes you on a tour through different eras and different categories of art—from power and identity to trade and conflict. It’s an adventure for your senses and your brain.

Musée d’Orsay, Paris

If you’ve always wanted to visit this popular art museum, now’s your chance. Monet and Cézanne are waiting for you!

Uffizi Gallery, Florence

The Medici family was one of the biggest purveyors of the arts, and this gallery houses their collection that spans across many different mediums.

AQUARIUMS:

Monterey Bay Aquarium

Kids will love any one of the ten live cams at Monterey Bay Aquarium. There’s of course the ever popular penguin cam, but don’t forget to get a peek at other animals too, like sea otters, moon jellyfish, and sharks.

National Aquarium

Of course, Baltimore’s very own National Aquarium does not disappoint. Take a floor-by-floor tour to see what some of your favorite creatures are up to.
