The Towns That Go All Out for Halloween

Some towns decorate full holidays and others for St. Patrick’s Day, but these are the ones to head to if Halloween is the day out of the year you look forward to the most.

Chatham, MA

While Salem may be the first Massachusetts town to come to mind when you think of this spooky holiday, Chatham is equally worth the mention. It’s a seaside town that hosts of plethora of family-friendly fun. There’s pumpkin bowling (yes, really), live music, and creative events that makes this the place to be in New England.

New Orleans, LA

If you want something a little more haunted, go to the nation’s capital for anything spooky or haunted-related: New Orleans. There’s voodoo shops, fortune tellers, and eerie experiences around every corner, making it the ideal Halloween destination.

Sleepy Hollow, NY

“The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” takes full effect come October every year in this small town, located north of New York City. Be sure to brush up on your knowledge of the classic story before venturing here for Halloween—which features cemetary tours, Headless Horseman-related festivities, and more spooky fun.

St. Helens, OR

If you’ve seen the kid-favorite movie Halloweentown, then this is the town for you on October 31. St. Helens fully embraces their Disney Channel Original Movie roots and hosts a pumpkin lighting ceremony and a costume parade, among plenty of other activities. Some of the actors from the movie even make an appearance each year!

Anoka, MN

Known as the “Halloween Capital of the World”, this Minneapolis city goes all out every year with their Halloween festivities. Throughout the entire month of October, you can participate in a variety of events: a scarecrow contest, carving contests, various haunted houses, parades, and much more. There’s something for every age in this Halloween-loving town!
