Travel Through Time at These Throwback Hotels
Sometimes you want to stay at a luxurious, modern hotel where everything from the beds to the toilets are remote controlled. And then, other times, you want to stay somewhere that feels a little like you stepped into a time machine, hit the random button, and ended up in a place far, far away.
These hotels are famous for doing just that—transporting visitors to another time and place.

The Shady Dell Vintage Trailer Court, Bisbee, AZ
Set in the small Arizona town of Bisbee, this hotel was once a stop-over for families traveling Highway 80—which stretches from Georgia to California. Now, each trailer on the property comes with a different throwback theme (think a 1940s tiki hut and a 1950s mansion), and makes guests feel like they just embarked on a midcentury camping trip.

The Greenbrier, White Sulphur Springs, WV
Tucked away in the mountains of West Virginia is this iconic hotel, which has been servicing visitors since 1778. Built on a series of hot springs, guests can indulge in luxurious, healing baths, world class golfing, and afternoon tea—among other activities—all in a setting that feels relatively unchanged for more than 200 years.

The Jane Hotel, New York City, NY
You can feel like a real sea captain at this classic New York hotel that offers a different experience in every room. You have your choice of the Captain’s Cabin, Standard Cabin, or Bunk Bed Cabin—all of which resemble a bedroom you might find aboard an old-fashioned cruise ship. Ironically, survivors of the Titanic sinking were some of the hotels first guests in 1912.

The Charley Creek Inn, Wabash, IN
A trip to this Central Indiana mainstay is like a trip to the 1920s, complete with cocktail bar and a restaurant that serves up old-fashioned favorites like beef wellington and seasonal martinis. The space is decked out, from top to bottom, in true 1920s style, including the rooms (though, they don’t skimp on modern-day amenities, either).
