Make Your Own Seed Paper
Share your love of gardening with others by making paper that actually grows! This ecofriendly idea uses recycled paper and whatever seeds you like. Just follow these steps—you’ll find it’s easier to make than you might think!
Materials
Directions:
- Tear up the paper into strips, and soak in water for a few hours or overnight. Add the food coloring at this point, if colored seed paper is desired.
- Take the soaked paper, and puree it in a blender or with a hand mixer. (Note: You might not want to use this appliance in the kitchen again after you make paper with it.)
- Lay the screen flat on top of a tray to catch excess water. Place the cookie cutter on top of the screen, and spoon the paper mixture into the cutter. Next, sprinkle a few seeds on top of the paper and press as flat and evenly as you can with the sponge to remove as much excess water as possible.
- Carefully remove the cutter, and repeat the process until you run out of paper mixture. Allow to dry completely before use.
Your seed paper creations are a perfect way to impress at just about any occasion. Give them as gifts, use them as party favors, or just share them as a unique way to say hello or thank you to a friend.
