5 of the Best Winter Weekend Getaways
Do you need a break from the winter cold for a couple of days? Or is a winter wonderland scene exactly what you’re craving? These five getaways are perfect for whatever vacation you’re in the mood for this winter season.

Savannah, Georgia
Georgia stays relatively mild throughout winter, making this quintessential Southern city all the more enticing for a quick vacation. Just 10 miles outside of Savannah is where you’ll find the Coastal Botanical Garden—a must-see during your visit. This sprawling garden includes a bamboo maze, an orchid greenhouse, a rose garden, and so many other hidden botanical treasures. Or venture to Wormsloe, a historic site with incredible live oaks. Afterwards, head downtown to the civic center for ice skating, or one of the many renowned restaurants for some classic Southern fare.

New York City, New York
New York makes for a buzzworthy weekend any time of year, but there’s something special about the city in the winter. For the foodies, restaurant week runs from January 22-February 9, and is sure to satisfy any craving. Nearly 400 restaurants participate in all of the major neighborhoods. But you can’t forget about the New York City winter essentials, like ice skating at Rockefeller Center, strolling through the shops on Fifth Avenue, or spending a day museum hopping.

Quebec City, Quebec
If you’re yearning for that European flair without the price tag, consider a trip to Quebec, where you’ll be just as fulfilled. A stroll through this French-Canadian town is enough to make you fall in love with the old-fashioned appeal of the city. Plus, the list of winter activities is never-ending: from snowmobiling and dogsledding, to classics like snow tubing and skiing. There’s also the Carnaval de Quebec, a festival which runs from January 26-February 11, and is simply the epitome of Canadian winter fun.

Key West, Florida
It may not be the Bahamas, but heading down south to the Keys will fill the tropics-shaped hole in your heart just the same. For those of you who enjoy history, visit Ernest Hemingway’s old home (which is now a museum), and you may spy descendants of his famous polydactyl. Or for a more traditional Key West mini vacation, spend all day lounging on one of the many pristine beaches, enjoying a cocktail in the sun.

Boulder, Colorado
Heading out west during the winter months is a must for many skiers and snowboarders. Whether or not you intend to spend time on the slopes, Colorado is still the ideal place to head to when you want a winter-filled weekend surrounded by snow and mountains. To escape the cold, venture to Boulder February 22–25 for a long weekend, and enjoy the Boulder International Film Festival. Don’t forget to stop in one of the many local breweries for a draft!

These destinations are ideal for a quick and fun winter getaway to remember!
