This Southern city is known for an abundance of things, with the dining scene being one of the main aspects that accumulates followings in the masses. Here are the restaurants you’ll want to keep top of mind if you’re in the metro ATL area.

Buttermilk Kitchen

Opened in 2012 by Suzanne Vizethann, Buttermilk Kitchen has been warming hearts and satisfying stomachs ever since, especially with their famous handmade biscuits. Weekend brunch is another fan favorite—be sure to try the pimento cheese snack, short rib hash, or lobster omelet for a made from scratch meal that’s sure to please.

Rumi’s Kitchen

This Persian restaurant in Sandy Springs delivers authentic cuisine filled with flavor. The service is top-notch too, which makes this restaurant perfect for date night or a weekend get together with old friends. Try their smoked eggplant, lemon saffron wings, and any one of their kabobs for your main meal to give your palate something to savor.

The Colonnade Restaurant

Considered an Atlanta tradition by many, The Colonnade is a restaurant favored by locals and outsiders alike. You may not have considered martinis and Southern comfort food a staple combination before, but consider it your new go-to thanks to what this restaurant is cooking up. Chicken fried steak, fried chicken, and plenty of country vegetables are what you’ll find on their classic menu.

Rising Son

Known for all main meals—breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner on the weekends—Rising Son is all-encompassing. Their biscuits will make any diet worth breaking, and their ever-changing menu is a reflection of the owners’ creativity. Head here for any meal and be wowed by whatever is on your plate.

Pho Nam

Nothing warms you up faster on a cold winter day quite like a bowl of pho. One of Atlanta’s best for this noodle soup is Pho Nam, a traditional Vietnamese restaurant that serves some stellar dishes. Other menu stand-outs are their spring rolls, salads, and banh mi that will fulfill any palate.

C. Ellet’s

Sometimes, you just want a really good steakhouse. Enter: C. Ellet’s. You can go for happy hour, which offers up some great bites and drinks at a reasonable price, or take the plunge on their bone-in cuts or seafood towers, which may be more for suitable for a fancy occasion.

Next time you’re in the ATL, or you’re getting tired of your usual spots, try out one of these eateries for a great Southern meal that’s worth the hype.
