Large galvanized tubs have multiple functions around the house, from washing pets to storing knickknacks, there’s no reason to ignore that metal tub that’s been sitting in your garage for months. In fact, they even make the ideal DIY window box. Follow these simple steps to create a farmhouse window box that will surely transform the exterior of your house.
- Depending upon the size of your windows, choose either one long tub or two shorter tubs.
- Using a power drill, drill holes every 3–4 inches along the bottom of your tub, to allow for drainage.
- Fill with potting soil and flowers of your choice.
Tip: the exterior of houses varies. You can either purchase a bracket, or attach hooks to the exterior of the window. To determine the best way to hang your window box, speak with a representative at your local hardware store.
